Garbo Skirt 1

This is the first sewing project that I've completed on my own (complete with an invisible zipper). Not bad for my first try. Although it's not perfect, I think it's wearable. It's a great skirt to keep my legs warm in a cold office.

Project details:

Pattern:
Garbo Skirt

Description: It's a 6 paneled flared skirt

Sizing: Fill in your own measurements

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Not exactly...but it is my first pattern completed all by myself

Fabric: Grey Polar Fleece

Were the instructions easy to follow? Oh yes! Easy enough for me to tackle on my own.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked that the pattern was easy to follow, however I wasn't thrilled about my fabric choice. I chose polar fleece to make a bit of office fleece attire like the one seen here. After sewing my 6 panels I realized that the skirt needed some lining or I'd have to wear a slip with it, and when trying to hem the skirt the fabric was so bulky that I broke a needle. Arg!

Pattern Alterations or any design changes you made: I tried on the skirt after sewing the initial 6 panels together and the bottom hit my ankles, so I decided to shorten it. In the process, I may have lost a lot of the flip. So this was an unintentional design change.Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes and yes, however next time I would try using a different, thinner fabric than polar fleece.
